About Us

The Iran National Council for Free Elections announced the launching of its ‘United for Freedom’ campaign on September 4th, 2016, as the cornerstone of its strategy in forging global partnerships to secure the immediate and unconditional release of all prisoners of conscience in Iran. We urge the international community to join us in the demand for the unconditional release of all prisoners of conscience in Iran. These prisoners which include journalists, bloggers, lawyers, women, students and human rights activists, as well religious and ethnic minorities are held in inhuman and atrocious conditions, often without even a semblance of due process.
The Iran National Council reiterates that security, peace and prosperity in Iran can only be achieved through secular democracy and human rights. These are aspirations which are impossible to achieve through the Islamic Republic’s constitution as it is fundamentally based on the supremacy and the directives of the Supreme Leader (Velayateh Faghih), despite the wishes of the Iranian people.
The ‘Iran HamAva” mouvement highlights the atrocities of the Islamic Republic. Over the past four decades, the theocratic apartheid regime in Iran has been responsible for the systemic murder and executions of its citizens, tensions across the Middle East, interference through subterfuge and terrorism in the internal affairs of other countries, financial and military support of terrorist groups and campaigns, and crimes against humanity. The policies of the Islamic Republic are a direct threat to global security and stability.

The Iran National Council urges the international community to support the ‘Iran HamAva” movement to help secure the immediate and unconditional release of all prisoners of conscience. This campaign aims to unify the global community, which must be resolute in its embrace of human rights as the precondition for trade dealings and negotiations. The Iran National Council underscores the interconnection between human rights and security in the Middle East, as global peace and stability cannot be realized without peace and stability in the Middle East. The Iran National Council encourages freedom loving people around the world to get involved by visiting.
